The Making of a Godly Man: How to Lead Powerfully & Biblically (Part 3)

Welcome to the powerful conclusion of our three-part series, "The Making of a Godly Man," from The Impossible Life Podcast. In Parts 1 and 2, we laid the foundation for a godly life and explored the critical roles of weight-bearing and seed-sowing.

Now, in Part 3, we focus on Leadership—specifically, what it looks like to lead with biblical strength, humility, and lasting influence.

Let’s dive in.

The True Definition of Leadership

At The Impossible Life Podcast, we define leadership clearly and biblically. Leadership is:

“Taking responsibility for others, creating order, and leading people toward a shared, God-inspired vision.”

True leadership isn't about position, power, or prestige. It's about stewardship and influence—serving others, bringing clarity, and guiding them to something greater than themselves.

Biblical Leadership: Order, Service & Stewardship

Every godly man is called to lead. Whether you're leading your family, your business, or a community, the principles remain the same. Biblical leadership consists of three key pillars:

1. Order

God is a God of order. Your first responsibility as a leader is bringing clarity and peace by removing confusion and chaos.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I creating clarity or confusion?

  • Am I making it easier or harder for people to follow?

2. Stewardship

Leadership isn't ownership; it's stewardship. You're responsible for serving and developing those entrusted to your care. Your goal isn't just results—it's growth, empowerment, and multiplication.

Ask yourself:

  • Am I stewarding or exploiting the people I lead?

  • Am I serving others sacrificially, like Christ?

3. Vision

Great leaders inspire people to move toward a compelling, God-centered vision. Without vision, people lose direction. With vision, they find purpose, passion, and unity.

Ask yourself:

  • Is my vision clear?

  • Does it inspire action and growth?

Jesus: The Ultimate Model of Leadership

In John 10:11, Jesus provides the ultimate example of biblical leadership:

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”

The shepherd-leader metaphor perfectly illustrates how godly men should lead. A shepherd isn’t driven by self-interest but by self-sacrifice, compassion, and protection. Jesus led by serving, sacrificing, and guiding people into their true identity and purpose.

Your goal as a godly leader? Emulate Christ by sacrificially serving those you lead.

Two Critical Leadership Mindsets

Every great leader needs these two mindsets:

1. Servant, Not Master

The world’s leadership model is about dominating others. God’s leadership model is exactly the opposite—leadership through service. Your strength is measured by how well you serve and empower, not how many serve you.

2. Ownership Mentality (Extreme Ownership)

You’re responsible for outcomes, good or bad. Godly leaders take full responsibility—not because everything is their fault, but because they know their response can create solutions.

Remember Garrett’s Navy SEAL principle:

“If it’s going to be, it’s up to me.”

Practical Leadership Actions to Take Immediately

Want to become a stronger godly leader today? Apply these practical steps:

Short-term (This Week):

  • Clarify Your Vision: Write down a clear vision statement for your family or team.

  • Create Clarity: Identify chaos and confusion in your environment, and address it head-on.

Medium-term (Next 30 Days):

  • Build intentional relationships with those you lead. Clearly communicate your vision and standards.

  • Regularly ask your team or family, “How can I better serve you?”

Long-term (Next 12 Months):

  • Cultivate consistent, Christ-like leadership by studying how Jesus led in scripture.

  • Develop your leadership skills intentionally (through mentorship, books, podcasts, and ongoing learning).

The Impact of Godly Leadership

When you lead this way, the impact multiplies:

  • People grow stronger, not weaker.

  • Trust deepens within families, communities, and organizations.

  • Cultures change, becoming more aligned with biblical values.

  • Your influence becomes multi-generational, leaving a lasting legacy.

Godly leadership doesn't just change circumstances—it changes people, communities, and generations.
